Fuzzland reports that a former employee is behind the Bedrock UniBTC hack worth 2 million dollars.
The smart contracts analysis platform Fuzzland has revealed that a former employee was responsible for a $2 million attack on Bedrock's UniBTC protocol in September 2024. The attacker used social engineering tactics and exploited a vulnerability after it was discussed in an emergency call. This former employee injected malware into technical workstations, allowing them to collect sensitive information undetected for weeks.
Fuzzland has compensated Bedrock and coordinated with ZeroShadow as well as law enforcement agencies for the investigation. Despite the damage of around 2 million USD, the company asserts that no customer data was affected. The total value locked (TVL) of Bedrock has increased from 240 million USD in September 2024 to 535 million USD in June 2025.
