South Korea's new president Lee Jae-myung announced support for encryption ETF and the development plan for the Korean won stablecoin.
Gate News bot, according to news reports, South Korea's Left Party candidate Lee Jae-myung defeated his right-wing opponent Kim Moon-so, who received 41.15% support, with 49.42% of the votes, and was successfully elected as the new president of South Korea. Lee Jae-myung said that he will actively promote the development of South Korea's cryptocurrency industry, including opening up local spot cryptocurrency ETFs, developing the won stablecoin market, improving the digital asset regulatory system, and relaxing blockchain regulation in specific regions to promote innovation.
As one of the largest Crypto Assets markets in the world, South Korea currently has about 9.7 million trading users, accounting for 20% of the country's total population. Against the backdrop of a shift in the Financial Services Commission's attitude, Lee Jae-myung is expected to advance his encryption policy implementation, contrasting with the previous president Yoon Suk-yeol's failure to fulfill the crypto-friendly commitments.
