The Meme Coin That Shocked with a 90% Drop Escaped SEC and FBI Investigation!
Internet phenomenon Haliey Welch stated that she was investigated by the FBI and SEC due to the memecoin issued in her name, but that no crime was found.
Haliey Welch, known on social media as 'Hawk Tuah Girl', announced that she was questioned by the FBI and SEC due to the HAWK memecoin she launched using her image last December, which quickly lost 90% of its value.
Welch stated that he came to his grandmother's house to answer the FBI's questions about cryptocurrency in the May 21 episode of his podcast program 'Talk Tuah' and that they took his phone for examination. After the investigation, it was concluded that Welch had committed no crime, and the investigation was closed.
I trusted the wrong people
In a statement made on the podcast, Welch confessed that he did not have enough knowledge about cryptocurrencies during the HAWK token launch and that he trusted the wrong people. Welch mentioned that he did not have control over the X (formerly Twitter) account during the launch process, and the content of the videos was determined by others.
Welch recounted that on the day the token was launched, he went live with a famous crypto analyst known as Coffeezilla, saying, 'No one told me Coffeezilla was a crypto expert; he tore me apart,' expressing his bad experience.
Welch emphasized that he did not gain any profit from the token sale, only receiving a marketing fee, and expressed regret for disappointing his followers and investors.
Following this incident, a group of HAWK investors filed a lawsuit against the token creators in the US, claiming that the token was offered for sale as an unlicensed security.
