BREAKING: Donald Trump has put an end to the claims that he will fire FED Chairman Jerome Powell!
President of the United States Donald Trump has stepped back from the idea of removing FED Chairman Jerome Powell.
Trump said of Powell, "he is doing a terrible job," referring to the eight months until his term ends, adding, "We will make a change then."
According to news reports in the US media, Trump recently asked Republican Congress members in a closed meeting whether he should consider removing Powell from his position. Some people in the room suggested that Trump was serious about this matter and could take action. However, according to constitutional authorities, a president does not have the direct authority to remove the FED Chairman.
Trump continued his criticisms of Powell in a harsh tone. Trump, who said, "He has always been too late, that's why I nicknamed him 'Too Late'," accused Powell of making interest rate cut decisions to provide political benefits to the Democrats.
While it is recalled that Powell was first appointed by Trump in 2017, Trump expressed his surprise on this matter as well, stating "I was surprised he was appointed." However, directing his main criticism towards President Joe Biden, Trump argued that Powell should not be reappointed for a second term.
