Superimposed AI, collaborative co-creation, Adobe design tool Express major upgrade

On June 9, at the Adobe EMEA Summit, Adobe announced the latest version of its Adobe Express application. By integrating the power and precision of its leading photo, design, video, document and generative AI tools, Adobe Express will bring users an integrated creative experience, making it easy to design great social media posts, video content and images. It's fast, easy and fun.

Currently, the new Adobe Express app is only available as a free beta on desktop, with mobile coming soon. Additionally, the app is also accessible through Adobe Express Premium for Adobe Creative Cloud members.

Integration Firefly AI

Among all the new features, the biggest highlight of Adobe Express's upgrade is the integration of Firefly's AI technology. By bringing Adobe Firefly directly into Adobe Express, users will be able to prompt Express with natural conversational language, using AI to improve and generate image and text effects. Adobe made a corresponding demonstration in a video. When the user enters the text "POP-UP SHOP" and adds the prompt of "Purple gloss balloon", the original font immediately turns into a purple, glossy balloon word art .

When the user enters "Flower illustration", Express immediately provides a variety of flower illustrations for the user to choose from. Users can quickly combine video clips, artwork, and music with simple drag-and-drop to create stunning social videos.

All-in-one editor

In addition to introducing Firefly AI, as an all-in-one editor, Express allows users to design content with text, images, video, animation, and audio. On the new version of Adobe Express, users can perform almost all tasks, including creating video content on Premiere Pro, editing images on Photoshop, editing PDFs on Acrobat, and creating layouts on Illustrator.

According to the official introduction, Adobe Express has nearly 200 million assets, including video and design templates, royalty-free Adobe Stock images, video and audio assets, nearly 22,000 fonts, and various icons, backgrounds and shapes.

Creation and Sharing

According to Adobe, the latest version of Adobe Express is also a perfect web complement to Adobe Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud and Document Cloud applications. Now, Creative Cloud members can seamlessly import, edit and sync assets between Creative Cloud Libraries and assets built with Photoshop and Illustrator for real-time collaboration, co-creation and sharing.

In addition to the features above, the new all-in-one editor also supports PDF, making it easier to import, edit, and enhance documents to create visually stunning PDFs. Additionally, quick actions like removing backgrounds from images and videos, animating characters with audio only, converting to GIF, and more are also supported.

Accelerated development

From the launch of Firefly in March, to the introduction of AI functions for its products Premiere and Photoshop, and now to the integrated AI design platform Express, Adobe is accelerating the layout of AI.

According to the official introduction, since its launch in March, Firefly beta users have generated more than 200 million images. Photoshop users generated more than 150 million images in just two weeks using the new Generate Fill feature powered by Firefly. Hundreds of brands, including Dentsu, IBM, and Mattel, have partnered with Adobe to explore how Firefly can help increase efficiency, reduce costs, and accelerate their content supply chains. Adobe Express for Enterprise is available now, and the new Adobe Firefly Enterprise Edition will also be available in the second half of 2023.

As Adobe officially stated, creators of all skill levels today need a platform that allows them to express themselves more efficiently and without restrictions. “We live in a world where creativity has become the new productivity: content is driving the global economy, content consumption is exploding, and creativity and design are valued like never before. Through content created and published in real time, the crowded social media space Standing out from the crowd has become a necessity. All of this places unprecedented demands on creators’ time, while reducing their bandwidth to experiment and learn new things.”

Adobe says this is just the beginning. In the coming months, it will bring more exciting generative AI features and a large number of new content and templates to help creators take the guesswork out of design, so that everyone can create and share great content.
