Robert F. Kennedy Will Enforce Pro-Bitcoin Laws If Inaugurated

The only cryptocurrency regulation Kennedy plans to implement as eventual US president will focus on preventing money laundering.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr recently announced he would run for president of the United States as a member of the Democratic Party, vowing to implement policies that would favor bitcoin if elected.

The Republican Party also has a crypto-loving candidate by the name of Francis Suarez. The 45-year-old current mayor of Miami has involved the city in several bitcoin initiatives and has become the first U.S. politician to receive a salary in bitcoin rather than fiat currency.

Bitcoin May Thrive Under Kennedy

In a recent interview, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (nephew of former President John F. Kennedy) reiterated his positive stance on the cryptocurrency space, and more specifically, Bitcoin. He said he would "make sure" the U.S. has rules that help bitcoin and give people control over their passwords, wallets and nodes.

"I will ensure that we have policies that support bitcoin and the freedom to transact, and allow individuals to manage their own bitcoin wallets, nodes and passwords."

Kennedy also pledged that his final cabinet would impose only the necessary controls on the industry to prevent money laundering.

He then opposed central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), labeling them as financial products used for "oppression."

Kennedy has previously described himself as an opponent of the Fed, claiming that the Fed worked with numerous banking institutions to print large amounts of money between 2008 and 2022. In his view, the outcome of this controversial policy could lead to further monetary imbalances in the future, with Bitcoin serving as a “route out of the splash zone.”

**Can we witness a rivalry among Bitcoin fans? **

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is a presidential candidate and Bitcoin advocate on the Republican side. His cabinet has undergone a digital transformation of Florida's financial center by digitizing the process of obtaining a business license. As a result, the city has become more attractive to investors and entrepreneurs.

Suarez, who has personally purchased bitcoin and receives his salary in the main cryptocurrency, is also considering investing 1% of his Miami wealth hoard in bitcoin.

Still, a direct contest between Kennedy and Suarez seems unlikely since they first need to win against Joe Biden and Donald Trump, respectively.
