The Federal Reserve's Logan: The Federal Reserve should strengthen the interest rate control mechanism.

On May 20, Dallas Federal Reserve President Logan stated that the Federal Reserve should consider strengthening mechanisms to more effectively prevent spikes in money market interest rates during times of market stress. In remarks prepared for the Atlanta Federal Reserve's 2025 Financial Markets Conference, Logan reiterated calls to encourage more banks to use the discount window and to centralize operations of the Standing Repo Facility (SRF). Logan also noted that the Federal Reserve should focus on a broader range of market interest rates rather than just the federal funds rate. "In my view, interest rate control is not merely about keeping the federal funds rate within the target range," she said. ( Jin10 )
